The whole documentary is filled with bigotry, imperialism and ignorance. Still, it's a very good time capsule and shows unique shots of British Kenya just before the uprising. Interesting note: this movie was one of the first Norwegian colour films and was also marketed as a colour film on the poster - the documentary itself is about coloured people. How fitting. -- Last edit: 2014-08-31 20:09:42 |

There are two sides to all stories. My wife grew up and went to school in Kenya during the 50s and 60s, her father working for the government helping the Kenyan farmers to set up co-operative businesses to promote the growing and selling of pyrethrum and coffee. While understanding that there was racial prejudice and jingoism, my father-in-law was a kindly man, who treated all people he met in the same way. |
