He is then pursued by agents of a sinister government agency who wish to use his powers and him for nefarious purposes! Originally conceived as a theatrical film about the Human Torch character from The Fantastic Four, presumably to cash-in on the glut of superhero films that followed Superman: The Movie, this film was changed to be completely unrelated once the project was reduced to a TV movie and the lowered special effects budget made the planned practical effects for the Human Torch too expensive. Since the Human Torch is capable of flight, I'm assuming that's why our hero is a stunt pilot. To think, we almost got a Fantastic Four-adjacent film 15 years before the ill-fated Roger Corman movie. Starring Art Hindle, Edward Binns, Joseph Rassulo, Eric Braeden, Susan Howard, and Dick Sargent.
