 Also filmed around White Sands?

As I've recently heard, the legendary VW-junkyard (a shop for aftersales market-stuff, whose owner had stored dozens of old VW's and some other rarities (I remember some Subaru 360, a Fiat 1500 Convertible and a Porsche 914) shortly after Alamogordo on the Hwy 70, shall not exist any more :(

 A red Fiat 1500 convertible of the first series still was a few yars ago lying in a junkyard in Cortez, Colorado on the way from Farmington (NM) to the North not far from the border with Colorado. There are (I think they survive) many other beauties from Europe and USA.
