Hmm. I was going with Pontiac because that was how it was listed, but now I'm thinking 1970-1971 Dodge Polara may be a better match. |

Okay, and your opinion is...? 1967 Pontiac (Bonneville pictured; other models had a strip of side trim like the subject car): http://www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/0911.jpg 1970 Dodge Polara: http://www.fuselage.de/dod70/70dod_pol_03b.jpg http://www.fuselage.de/dod70/70dod_press04b.jpg 1971 Dodge Polara: http://www.fuselage.de/dod71/71dod_press_01b.jpg I ruled out 1972 Polara because of the side marker lights. I am now leaning towards '70 Polara over '67 Pontiac because: - wheelwell looks rounder; Pontiac was sort of squared off - car has line of trim on side with badge below it at rear of car; this matches the Polara - the only '67 Pontiac with a badge in this location was the Bonneville, which did not have the strip of trim - both cars had loop bumpers; on this car the cap of sheetmetal on the corner above the bumper and before the fender panel has come off (it would have contained a headlight on the Pontiac), so no help there, but - the hood of this car, though bent, looks like it extended to the top of the bumper, matching the Polara but not the Pontiac (which had a non-opening strip of sheetmetal between the bumper and the hood) - on the ajar front door we see three character lines, consistent with both cars, but there were differences - on the Pontiac the top line flows into the crest of the front fender; on the Polara the top line fades out midway through the front door at about where the mirror is mounted and the fender crest flows into the windowsill - the middle line is very prominently molded into the sheetmetal on the Pontiac; on the Polara it is subtle and made prominent by the line of trim - the bottom line is inconclusive, but the the top and middle lines both look more like the Polara to me My case rests. -- Last edit: 2015-08-05 20:53:14 |

I took another look at the front bumper and its body apron. Seems to match closely to 1971 Dodge Polara. Comments/Rebuttal? |
