Probably 442. That was oldsmobile's "muscle" car (late 1960's - about 1972), they used the name again in 1985-1987 as an option on the cutlass supreme and that looks more like this one. See: http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/gm/8587olds.jpg Call it a Cutlass Supreme 442. -- Last edit: 2006-03-12 23:09:45 |

The 442 was not available until 1985. If its a 442, then its not 1983. |

The original 442 was introduced in 1964 and thru 1967 was an option on any F-85 or Cutlass. In 1968 it became a separate model until 1971 after which it was again an option package for handling and trim and not performance on any Cutlass model. This lasted thru 1980. It was reintroduced again in late 1984 on the last RWD Cutlass then available and was sold up to 1987. Going by the front view, this is a 1985-86 model: http://www.442.com/oldsfaq/of442.htm#442 -- Last edit: 2006-03-14 08:38:37 |

This is a 1985 442. This car was previously owned by "oldsmobiledave" on the realoldspower.com forums. It was sold on ebay and it was found out later that the buyer was the production company for this movie. Link to "us.movies1.yimg.com" "442" lasted from 1964-1980 and then 1985-1987. In 1988, an option called the "gt" was offered which was almost identical to the 442 package but had a different engine that previously offered in the 442 package. In 1990-1991, there was a visual package for the quad 4 equipped cutlass (which had switched to the front wheel drive w-body) called the "442". |

Great movie - but I hated to see this 1985 Oldsmobile 442 get smashed up. |

I believe its an '85 since I don't see a 3rd brake lite, but it's wearing '86 grilles. |

In 1985 3,000 Olds Cutlass Supreme 442's were produced and all were sold quickly. 4,273 were produced for 1986, and 4,208 were made in 1987. I would agree this one is 1985 or 1986, BUT I have seen the film and reviewed the still image that antp has above from the movie and I say they used another car in the damage shots... The 442 was a performance Olds Cutlass model (as were others like the Hurst/Olds and W30, etc). The RWD Cutlass Supreme ended in 1988 (the pictured above model was part of the top selling 1981-1988 Generation of the Cutlass. In 1988 they actually made BOTH the RWD & FWD(new incoming replacement) and referred to the RWD as the Cutlass Supreme Classic as that generation was ending. The last year grills were distinctly different too. They adopted the "International Series" as the moniker for the performance FWD models in the 90's. |
