Australian made Granada II. During the production-time the body was changed a bit - and nice V8-engines were available in Down Under for that cars. The Europeans never had the chance to get a 8cyl in a Granada.

Unless they put it there on their own, like Walter in Absolute Giganten :)

Yep, it's definitely a 79-81 XD Ford Falcon, most likely a 4.1 litre 6

When trying to start the car after leaving Wolf Creek, the engine wouldn't turn. Later Mick says that this is the coil pack. A faulty coil pack wouldn't stop the engine turning over. However, as Mick knows that none of the three backpackers know anything about engines, he can say whatever he likes is wrong with it, and they'll believe him.

 Nope, completely different car and platform. The Falcon is a much larger vehicle. I must admit, they do look remarkably similar from the front.

Now, after 7 years, I know more. But thanks anyways.

I'm pretty sure this is a Fairmont, not a Falcon. It has the black B pillar with chrome trim, and interior grab handles for all passengers, which Falcon GL didn't have:

Fairmonts also had chrome trim above the grille, as seen here as well. Seats appear to be vinyl, but this was a no-cost option on Fairmonts. Fairmonts also came standard with passenger side mirror and bucket seats, but both of these were also optional on Falcon GL.

Also, I'm unsure why this is listed as 1981?? Should be 1979+ unless there's something to indicate otherwise.

Nope, the plate couldn't have been checked, because South Australia doesn't allow you to check the year (the plate will only tell you the brand, colour, and body type). However, 13 years ago in 2007, when this vehicle was added, you couldn't even check the plates at all (as was the case with most states at the time).

Anyway, out of interest, I just checked, and SNP948 was registered to a blue Chrysler sedan. I never expected the real plate to be used on a car in a film like this.

I'm not sure how it should be listed, to be honest. Also, year should be changed to 1979+
