 Rather strange this film saw a release in the USSR... considering that the Chernobyl disaster happened due to the government's mismanagement and was a major factor in the Soviet Union's collapse.

s13a, where did you source these screencaps from? An authentic Russian VHS release of the film or did the original 1991 TV airing include Cyrillic characters?

Curiously enough Jason Robards is in this movie, less than ten years after he played the title character in Sakharov, another movie set inside the Soviet Union showing the government in a negative light.
