The AACO one has a story: they were originally made for the Australian Army (so, "AACO" = "Australian Army Cab-Over", although the army apparently only referred to them as Mk. 1, Mk. 2, etc), and had they that mesh grille. IHC later redesigned the grille to a hideous vertical bar design. Both were sold to the public as "AACO". IHC then went from four headlights to two (and changed the model name from AACO to ACCO - "Australian C-Line Cab-Over"). My rule of thumb is: four headlights = AACO, two headlights = ACCO (although I certainly stand to be corrected by those more knowledgeable on IH than me!). As for the Land-Rover - I know almost nothing about them, so can't comment... |

Oh - and this is the same Land-Rover, in the same episode!![]() Character in the story had just arrived from interstate, so the producers affixed a dreadful fake NSW number-plate to the vehicle. And then forgot to put it back on for the next scene... |

Very strange grille, there is a famous story that when the S111 came out with a plastic grille the Australians didn't like it because you could not use it on a barbecue like the metal grille. Perhaps this was the answer !! Land rover changed headlights to wings on late S11A in 68 and S111 with plastic grille came in 71. -- Last edit: 2016-11-11 09:06:11 |
