Would've been relatively easy to get rid of the CHMSL. Unscrew the lens, owner willing, and stash it in the car, s little bit of black tape either way and you're there. |

The Wheeler family car. Seen driving in episodes 1.02 and 1.08 and seen parked in the garage in a few other episodes. -- Last edit: 2016-09-09 06:34:58 |

man the creators were lazy with the continuity. The series starts in 1983 to 1985 so how would they have a 1986 model? This is why I hate it when shows today are set in a certain time period because they nver get the cars right for that era -- Last edit: 2019-10-30 18:31:08 |

Wish they had been accurate with the model year since the series starts in '83, but hey, this is still a gorgeous car. Here is a video tour of the '86 model used here as the Wheeler family car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duf47heFwp0. The Colony Park was a real premium vehicle as it was the high-end top-of-the-line wagon for the Mercury brand (Ford's premium mid-range brand just below Lincoln, similar in fashion to GM's Buick). We get some nice shots of this car throughout the series (mostly in Season 3 when we get a good view of the rear-facing backseat). After the Colony Park's demise in 1991, it had no direct replacement, but I would say the Mountaineer essentially became its successor when Mercury started offering SUVs. This Colony Park, in 1986, would have cost about $13,724 at the time or $32,391 in 2020. |

The Mercury Villager minivan was the indirect replacement for the fullsize station wagons |
