“Intellect is poison.”

Very heavy duty propaganda piece built around the assasination of Reinhardt Heydrich and the resulting repercussions. Director Douglas Sirk had actually met Heydrich before the war and I wonder how much that informed John Carradine's performance as he has an absolute blast trying to live up to the title, although he has far too little screen time. Either way, probably the most serious movie Edgar Kennedy was ever in. Despite MGM logos, this was made by the much-maligned PRC.

Those are adaptations not remakes. A remake has the same title.
