This is a little strange article. It says that "a more thorough redesign with a new, more square cab, appeared in late 1976 and was called the OM Z-series". It is nonsense. The new squared cab was introduced already in 1972 and these "squared" pre-Z trucks are sometimes called X-range (later about it). Anyway it can means that X-range could have both, new sqaured and old rounded cab (the one we see in movie) in the same time. This version somehow confirms de.wiki article https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/OM_X-Reihe BUT it also has some quirks and calls everything of this size made till 1992 X-range... That's a big simplification. A different en.wiki article (about Iveco Zeta) says: "it was essentially just a restyling of the earlier S-series". This can means that 1st sqaured cabs were S-series and X were only the old round ones. But who is able to confirm this?! The fact that before "Z", the letters X (or S) were less official names doesn't make things more easy. -- Last edit: 2016-05-24 17:13:06 |

40 or 35, with 1975/76+ badging. Although the linked above Wiki article says it was made in the years 1972-77 (and others give even 1972-74 period), only the squared cab "X" had to be made in these years (and indeed it was replaced in 1977 by the Z-range). This round cabine light models were in fact made much longer, after small facelift they were still to get in 1980s (perhaps only on domestic, Italian market). |
