A C-3500 3+3 (crew cab) with dual rear wheels. REMINDER; 1973 was the first year DRW was available on pickups, and only GM offered them. Before that, the only light-duty trucks that had them were cab & chassis models. |

Not exactly: the very first GM pickup with DRW was the 1946-47 1½-ton pickup from the 'Art Deco' truck line: ![]() (Excerpt of the 1946 Chevrolet truck data book for Chevrolet salesmen) _____ Edit: The DRW option on 1½-ton pickups was in fact available from 1939 onwards on the Chevrolet V-Series. All datasheets concerning the following models (1940 W-Series and 1941+ 'Art Deco' models include this option too. The initial range of GM DRW pickups seems therefore to have been 1939-47. But this configuration disappeared between 1947 and 1973 indeed. _____ The stakes and platforms, which were sold as separate models, could have them too. For the 1946-47 model years of the 'Art Deco' truck line once more for the 1-ton trucks, they weren't available for the 1947½ Advance-design versions, were back as option in 1948, and became also available as option for the ¾-ton 3600 from 1954 onwards. Until 1973, when they were again optional only on the 1-ton C-30 // C-3500/C-35. I assume all of these dates were the same for the 1946-47 GMC EC-Series and 1947+ New Design (and following) truck lines. -- Last edit: 2016-08-14 01:44:12 |
