1947-55... Models with rear panel doors were designated "3106," while those with tailgates were designated "3116." In 1952, the Suburban came with either a tail gate or panel door..

Unfortunately you don't see the back end too much here:

I supposed that the script at the bonnet doesn't help :think:

Can we use GM based? :think:

Yes, I did say that supcoach. It is up to the administrator to make their decision [:spamafote]

It was only their internal model/chassis code, and only for Chevrolet models. Their model name was Thriftmaster (1947-48) or 3100 (1949-55), like the other ½-ton trucks. GMC models were called 100 and had the 101 model code, but both name and code were used by all GMC ½-ton models.

Indeed apparently only unveiled as lift-/tailgate model in 1947 (unlike the previous truck line), it regained the panel door option in 1950.

For a vehicle from the Chevrolet Advance-Design / GMC New Design truck lines, the Chevrolet make name is used as default one when none is impossible to identify. But as the truck line name is not used for the Suburbans, should we use that habit too for them?
For now, only one unknown Suburban of this era is identified as GM in the IMCDb.

This won't help to identify the make, but the red light on the rear left (main picture and thumbnail) could be the one located above the plate. If so, it's a 1950+ panel type door model:

With what seems to be a 1947-50 one-piece door window, this Suburban would then be a 1950 only model.

@night cub:
We shouldn't use the 3106 code. As explained above, only the Chevrolet models had it.
