The 1000 MB export to Norway began in 1965. The quantities of Skoda vehicles exported to Norway: 1964 - 40 1965 - 1890 1966 - 948 1967 - 1191 1968 - 670 1969 - 1176 1970 - 633 1971 - 686 |

Is that number for the 1000 MB, or for Skodas in general? In 1963, the number of Skoda cars sold in Norway was 1451, so I have a hard time believing such drastic drop in sales happened, even though it was no longer among the top 10 anymore as it had been for years. |

This mean forty vehicles (all types) exported to Norway. The deep decrease touched all export markets. I've been sum all cyphres on these available export tables (1961, 1964 & 1965): 1961 - 26,759 pcs exported, 1964 - 4457 pcs, (!) 1965 - 41,225 pcs. It's easy explained. On 1964 Skoda began tough, time & money consuming reorganization to perform the technological jump from late 1930s to modern 1960s manufactoring methods (on brand new factory). 1965 MY is correct for 1000 MB. The premiere shows on Western markets were done in Autumn 1964. -- Last edit: 2021-05-01 20:30:25 |

Interesting. That's probably why the main importer of Skodas in Norway at the time, F.E. Dahl began importing Toyotas to supplement the poor availability of Skodas. Not many Toyotas were sold in 1964 (their first year in Norway), with only 156 Crowns sold. By 1969 their Toyotas were outselling the Skodas. |
