I´m pretty sure there´s a feature on these concept cars in the book "Cars that never were" (which I can highly recommend!). What a shame I don´t have it with me, but maybe another reader is willing to follow my hint? |

If there's a book I can't recommend, it's "The World's Worst Cars," by Craig Cheetham. The list goes from cars such as the Chevrolet Caprice to the (gasp dsl!) Hillman Imp past incorrect model years (Ford Aspire, 1995-2002), contradiction ('The Acclaim beats all comers' says Triumph, referring to such mighty adversaries as the Renault 9 and Ford Escort, but conviently forgetting good cars such as the VW Golf and anything Japanese , incorrect pictures (using the picture or the 1999 Pontiac Aztek rather than the production 2001-04 model) or using an American flag for all Fords and then saying things like 'Ford's final bite at the Euro-executive cherry, 'The Zephyr had always echoed the styling of American models', 'The Classic bore several US design influences' or the biggest mistake: putting a picture and description of the European Ford Escort, and then adding the American flag as its origin, all while writing 'There was also a four-door saloon, called the Orion' and picturing said car. Strangely, they used the Union Jack for the Chrysler Avenger and Talbot Tagora, and a French flag for the Chrysler 180. Also: Insulting (Datsun wanted to give the Cedric a distinguished, English-sounding name. Instead, they ended up with an old-fashioned, wimpish moniker) Typos (The Mantis's, at the 181 Motor Show) Uncalculated mistakes ('Nissan Cedric is an anagram of canned crisis) And stupidity such as using this pic for the (AMC) Alliance and Encore, and then thinking 'impossible' is part of the ad... -- Last edit: 2014-08-23 09:18:21 |
