Or Chevrolet with altered front like: /vehicle.php?id=723284 ? |

I'd assume so based on the badge on the lower right corner. |

Did Esso (Exxon) build gas stations that way in 1983. |

Not really. From what I see, this is the Dreilinden service station, designed by Rainer Rümmler and built around 1968-1973 next to Checkpoint Bravo. Here are a few (more or less) recent pictures : http://www.panoramio.com/photo/15597594 (2008) http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/pc/display/18590937 (2009) http://www.panoramio.com/photo/49771037 (2011) It seems to have been an SVG rather than Esso station. Edit : from the film pic, I think it's been digitally altered to make it clean and to include the Esso branding. -- Last edit: 2015-08-15 17:02:16 |

As Exiv96 correctly said, this gas station was never ruled by Esso - and the display-board is definitely an anachronism! For IMGasPriceDb I must check, if the prices are correct. They are a bit near the actual prices - but back then they were in D-Mark (divide with 1,95583 to get the €-amount) |

It's one of those Minnie Winnie, I didn't know they import Winnebago to European country's. |

It's most probable a private used import. Or -the plate ist not visible*- it may be American tourists, exploring Europe with their own vehicle. Especially in Berlin -where this scene was set and filmed in the reality, too- you see them not really rarely. *It's a plate from West-Berlin http://pics.imcdb.org/10795/1131k.jpg -- Last edit: 2015-08-15 17:58:57 |

There was at least one distributor in Germany at that time : Gerhard Schneider in Freiburg. He also had his own racing team called GS Sport, and their Group 5 Lancia Beta Monte Carlo carried "GS Winnebago Wohnmobile Autohaus" stickers in the 1980 DRM. Here's a photo : http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1980/Spa-1980-06-01-051.jpg And another, very large photo : http://classic-car-market.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/BCM1.jpg -- Last edit: 2015-08-15 18:08:10 |
