1953-63 Willys or 1964-73 (release date of the movie) Jeep CJ-5? 1958-71 "export" Willys M38A1? The visible details in an "enlightened" version of the picture are not helping much more: Blinkers of the CJ-5 or not? 2-part windshield of the M38A1 or is it just the crash bar seen through the windshield? -- Last edit: 2015-06-07 03:20:05 |

The recessed headlights of the M38A1 series. Could possibly be the long wheelbase M170 but much more likely the M38A1. |

Thanks for the headlamps clue, 4x4peru, I was really going around in circles with this "1-part or 2-part?" windshield... 56 Jeep M38 A1 vs. 128 Willys M38 A1, in the IMCDb. Is there a difference, is it a mistake, or did these vehicles just have both names? -- Last edit: 2015-06-09 05:48:55 |

Same vehicle. Willys M38A1 The CJ5-6 windshields are interchangeable in a matter of seconds. "Export" CJ5&6 had the 2 piece windshield. |

So what make should be used? |

Willys is the make. |

@ 4x4peru and any Willys/Jeep connoisseur: What about the other M38A1 models in the IMCDb? Should they also all have the Willys make? |

Yes Willys made the M38A1 (with a few exceptions; a CDN built by Ford and a small lot assembled by the Dutch known as Nekaf M38A1). Minor details between them but all based on the Willys design M38A1. The "Kaiser-Willys" years complicate it even more but Willys M38A1 is consistent. |
