Si, si ! et je préciserais même un Series II Il me semble que le Series I n'a pas les poignées de porte "encastrées".. |

Merci Pour les Land Rover il y a pas mal de ménage à faire sur le site : beaucoup sont listés juste comme Land Rover sans plus de précision. -- Last edit: 2005-08-11 15:25:54 |

This is a Land-Rover Series I, 86". |

It is not from 1986 -- even Land-Rovers did look slighty more modern then ;-) The 86'' is the wheelbase. Therefore I should have written: Land-Rover 86'' Series I (1954-56) |

Thanks. For a 1980 movie it was obviously that the car was not from 1986, I should have seen that -- Last edit: 2005-09-26 23:04:52 |

Okay, I'll admit, I love old Land-Rovers! The famous 'hanging from the tree' scene was done with a mock-up. Probably the branch of the tree was not strong enough for the Landy. |

Hmmm I think that you beat me; the most thumbnails that I posted is, I think, 10 for the DeLorean from "Back to the Future" |

Hi Alexander, How can you tell that the land rover is a 86 inch and not an 88 inch? Cheers Mark |

Thwe difference between the 86"and 88" (and also the 107" and 109") is the position of the front axle. The axle was moved forwards 2" in 1956 ready to accomodate the new 2 litre diesel engine when it arrived in 1957. They look extremely similar and it can be hard to tell them apart. However, there is one way to tell if you get a side shot. On the 86" (and 107") the front end of the front springs sit behind the bumber and the wheel is roughly central in the arch. On the 88" (and 109") the front end of the spring is under the back edge of the bumper and the wheel sits forward in the arch. From that I would say this is actually an 88" Series 1. |
