My father had a 1978 Bronco Ranger XLT and it had square headlights, he bought it brand new. This one doesn't have the side trim of the XLT so it's likely to be a 1979 but square headlights were also available in 1978. In 1979, all models had the square headlights including the 1979 F-100 Custom that a friend of mine has. |

Actually, that's sort of an F 350. However, it is a "Bronco", by what a Bronco should look like. My father owns am F 350 Custom from the same year, it looks almost exactly the same. And realistically, all it would really take is a little editing, throw a cap on the bed, and weld the cap, bed, and cab together to make 'em the same. Okay, so it's more detailed, but that's the basic idea. It looks like a good beater vehicle. And with the manual locks on the front axles.... Nice..... *drools* -- Last edit: 2009-10-26 00:46:08 |

^ That made absolutely no sense what so ever. While the Bronco is based on the F-Series it is it's own model and is no "sort of an F350" |

So the Bronco is vaguely like a F-150 if you consider towing and 4x4 capability? |

The saddest part of the movie is when Johnny Depp drives this nice Bronco off of a cliff. |

1978 had both square and round headlights. Bronco's have the same thickness steel used in the frames as 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, but they have half ton suspension and running gear. F-150 has 1/8" steel and Bronco, 3/4 and 1 ton have 3/16" steel. |

Looks like a '79 Custom by the black windshield molding and black headlamp bezels. |

Very likely a 1979 Bronco Custom. Square lights and minimum trim. 1978 was the first year of this body style but square headlights were only available as mentioned on the higher trim levels. Custom emblems have been removed. More interesting is that this truck has modifications on the rear. If you look closely you will see it has 1980style 3rd gen taillights and the side markers have been removed. Likely this truck was a fixed up beater as it meets it's demise over a cliff in the movie. -- Last edit: 2023-12-03 21:31:42 |
