Probably because of the license plate. |

I don't get it. I've heard you guys talk about how different model years have different plates but that simply does NOT MAKE SENSE to me ![]() |

License plates in Calif. for cars and light trucks(excluding pickups) are in a number/3 letters/3 numbers format. Such as 6DOG123. If you bought a car or reregistered a used car right now you would probably get a 6D plate now. I bought my brand new Jetta in Aug/05 and got a 5P plate. It's really based on when the plates are issued not what specific model year the vehicle is. Someone could buy a '86 Excel and receive a 6D plate. You also have to be knowledgeable about cars first, and use plate info as a second source. There are too many intangibles to rely on the plate only. Knowing that the Taurus had this front styling from '92 to '95 helps the most. Then after that maybe the plate helps nail it down more. On these '92 to '95 Tauruses the headlights, door handles and passenger side of the dashboard really helps the most. Another tip is to pay attention to car that you know is new to the market. The new Corolla and Impreza STI are just hitting dealerships. Pay attention to what license plates they are issued in your state or province. That will link in your head license plate sequence and model year. |

I'm pretty sure my state doesn't have plate "codes" like in California. My family has 7 cars (yes we're hillbillies ) and all of them have completely different plates even though most of them were registered within about the same time period. Some have 5 letters/numbers, some have 6, and some even have 7. Plus there is no certain amount of letters or numbers and there are no patterns like "6D" and such. Of course my state's plates don't matter on this site since I highly doubt any movies were ever filmed here anyways ![]() |

What state is that? I'm sure there is some website that could find out if filming was done in your state. Maybe IMDB? |

There is the "filming location" link on the left of most of movie pages on imdb, e.g.: http://imdb.com/title/tt0115438/locations and lists of movies for each of theses locations, e.g.: Link to "imdb.com" |

Probably a lot of filming in Detroit. Although for lower costs filming is often done in Toronto instead of Detroit. Such as in Exit Wounds. |
