Link to "www.edrive.ie" , http://www.landroverchina.com/news/art.php?id=120866069900 (which probably says "we wanted to have a Hillman Minx to showcase our new launch but couldn't find one in time so we used an old Landie instead") |

From "Land Rover - the Unbeatable 4x4". K & J Slavin & G N Mackie. Foulis, 1981. "After a fair bit of trial and error, which determined the 1389cc Rover 10 engine as lacking the necessary power and torque, the new 1.6 litre engine was fitted." L31 and R32 were tested by the National Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Scottish Machinery Testing Station in 48/49 and the engine was described as "4 cylinders in line 2.736" bore x 4.134" stroke", so you can do the sums to (I think) arrive at 1595cc which was the Rover P3 60 engine size. "In 1952 the engine was changed to the larger, more powerful 1997cc unit because the physical demands being made of the vehicle were in excess of its capability." S and M again. The 80" Land Rover did not have a Diesel engine. -- Last edit: 2017-02-26 00:27:09 |
