Utterly bizarre choice for a police car... details for the one on the left. Right hand one has the numberplate of a Ford Ka... |

Why "bizarre"? Considering certain choices elsewhere (e.g. Lancia Kappa, Fiat Freemont, Smart Fortwo, Renault Twizy, etc.) don't seems so bizarre. |

Expensive (it is a top spec model with the Hybrid engine which costs more than £30,000), not particularly quick (expensive police cars are usually the ones used for traffic policing) or spacious and Citroen cars are not used by the British police any more (since a couple of years ago the police contracts here are with a limited pool of manufacturers that does not include Citroen). For the last reason it is a movie prop (maybe we will see it again in other productions?) like all the Kia police cars we see. The police might get a Twizy so they can say they are being environmentally friendly, a Smart as it is supposedly suited for town policing and the Italian police will get Italian cars so they can be patriotic and they also have a point in that a Kappa might be well suited to high speed escorts compared to other Italian products and if they want a people mover the Freemont is just about the only option from an Italian manufacturer. |

There wasn't a EU regulations which forbids "patriotic favoritism" on State procurement? Or maybe Italian cars are really so "cheap". |
