What a shame. Ford Torino's sure do make cool looking cop cars. |

it seems they've changed the model for the final scene when meeting the 4 Plymouth Satelitte /vehicle_249922.html |

That side trim seems to suggest Gran Torino, although I would've thought the base model would be more likely as a cop car. |

Okay, the grille is what makes this a base Torino: /vehicle_165485-Ford-Torino-1973.html |

I've never seen a Gran Torino with that grill before. I've only seen this grill on the base models. Perhaps it's had it's original grill replaced? |

The movie was shot in 1976, when these cars were 3 years old. The base 1973 Torino that appears early on was likely in good enough condition that the studio wanted to make more use of it elsewhere. The one that was shot to pieces was a Gran Torino, but may have happened to be in poorer mechanical condition and therefore was more expendable. |
