1959 Olympia. 1958 models had a dashboard mounted mirror, and in 1960 the Olympia name was omitted and the basic versions were called 1200/1500 instead. The more elaborate and common versions were called Rekord.

But the Olympia didn't have this side strip nor the chrome around the rear window or windscreen nor the two-tone paint nor the possibility to get it as a 4-door sedan... This must be a Rekord, or do I miss something?

My guess would be that they used an Olympia for the dashboard shot and a 1960 Rekord for the external shot. The dashboard script really put me off course ...

You both are wrong.
Inside the script was Olympia for the cheap Olympia, The Rekord (I prefer to name it Olympia-Rekord, and the caravan.
Outside there was written Rekord on the front fender, but Olympia for the Caravan and the Olympia.
The interior script "Olympia" lasted till the birth of the Rekord C in 1966.
I AM SURE BECAUSE I HAD THESE CARS

Seriously, what was the idea of putting the script there, other than confusing the hell out of people? You might want to discuss this with Wikipedia, too.

I know that the name Olympia Rekord was commercially used for the P1 (an no more for the P2) but the inside script at the center of the dash was still visible in 1966 Rekord B.
