Wow, that's really something! A 1971 Custom 500 4-Door Sedan btw. |

It's so bizarre I did not make the connection for ages, but makes a sort of sense in the plot as Sandbagger 1 is pretending to be a very wealthy industrialist. |

Aside from this poorly immitation of GAZ Chaika, could this be Canadian made for the British market? ![]() |

I wondered if CDN, but this was never really sold here - too ordinary - but could have been specially ordered if someone was determined enough. However my guess would be ex-US base staff car sold on locally; as previous comments on various pages Menwith Hill and even Fylingdales radar bases are both in Yorkshire. |

Better than hearing internal voices... |

They had probably already decided to use a certain bit of stock footage of Prague (from another British TV series, so easy to get permission for) and needed to match the car shown in it: /vehicle.php?id=601140 |

Guess it was about the linked Cadillac. Anyway here we have a faked ZiL. |

wannabe VW Phaeton: /vehicle_74601-Opel-Omega.html |

Opel Phaeton (and some similar "cobras") can't be compared with this, let alone that it was build only to be destroyed. |

I was astounded by the switch when I first watched the episode. A 1971 LTD looks nothing remotely like a Chaika, even with the taped lines of "chrome". The car is barely seen when Willie arrives at the Hotel, so the first unit film shot in England could have been more of a closeup and not suffer the embarassment. |
