Um... why do you think the movie is called Alkali Ike's Auto? |

Yeah Looks like 'Custom Made' |

Not custom made at all. It is a typical underfloor-engined chain drive American car of the 1904-08 period, similar to but a little different to the Cadillac - like this one - /vehicle_118441-Cadillac-Model-K-1907.html - note that the Cadillac has a 'bent' front axle. The car on this page is possibly a REO, though it has a dashboard that looks more Cadillac-like. -- Last edit: 2013-04-25 01:31:08 |

I would like to say REO on account of the general layout and that you can see the driver using the clutch lever that sticks out of the side of the bodywork - Buick, Cadillac, Rambler et al. did not use such a lever. The only problem with REO is that the movie car has two controls mounted on the steering column. REOs only had one lever there. |

A possibility might be a Queen Ca. 1905: http://ronreznick.photoshelter.com/image/I0000DPp1p6d0ZQI Mid engined, it has the lever sprouting out the side like the movie car, as well as two control levers on the column, unlike a REO. If it were possible to find a picture of one with the hood removed it would be easy to recognize if the movie car was a Queen or not. There are a few other interesting similarities but also a few minor differences. |
