How would a bus like that operate? Did passengers have to go forward to pay the driver or was there a conductor to take fares? |

I can't find this bus especially strange. To the mid 60's (even early 70's) a lot of busses, everywhere in the world, were built on a truck chassis (engine at the front) and looked like this one. The option with conductor is possible. |

Bus ZIS 154 has rear-mounted diesel engine and electrical transmission, but this setup was unreliable and real gas saver (65 liters per 100 km),they try to replace it with carb engine, but it was too weak. next model ZIS 155 was converted in front-engined, with carburetted gas one. ZIL 158 is just a modernization of ZIS 155 |

In fact it's rather LiAZ 158 V, not ZiL 158 (badge with slant inscription) http://www.bus2.ru/images/photo/img-164.jpg http://www.bus2.ru/images/photo/img-167.jpg |
