On the 8th thumbnail, is it the Queens Midtown Tunnel? |

1998 model? Also a [P71]? |

My comment to this car is gone...? Anyway, I wrote that I think it's a '98 Crown Victoria. Due the holes in the bumpers it could be a former police car. |

Not a P71. "Wood" dash and lack of spotlight hole. Also, does this thing have CNG-model rear springs? Yikes, its got some rake to it. |

Not doubting your assessment, but don’t get too comfortable identifying a vehicle by it's "interior". Movie productions often use multiple versions of the same vehicle, so the interior you see, may not be from the vehicle used to film the exterior or "beauty" shots. Its easy to believe its the same vehicle, as that’s what the film makers want you to believe. |

I'm not, just pointing out another clue of the model of CV. "Holes in the bumper" was used to suggest it could be a former police car, i just suggested two ways it is not. |

It's a 1998 model, that's all that can really be said with absolute certainty. |

With a door frame you identify that one as a 2005: /vehicle.php?id=505759 but here with 17 pictures you can't tell more than the year? I am disappointed -- Last edit: 2012-06-01 11:46:31 |

Was the speedometer visible? If I could see it, then I could tell if it's a [P71] or not. |

My suggestion is, not to be too exaggerated with these details. It's more than doubtful, that this car is just widely still in original condition. As I told before, absolutely NONE of the Crown Vic taxis, I've spotted in Manhattan two weeks ago, was still in original, unrepaired condition. And I've seen, how hastily damaged taxis where thrown together again in the specialised garages in Hells Kitchen. Noone there takes care about originality. The same goes for the the several black Grand Marquis'es, used by limo- and shuttle services. So better don't latch to the outer body parts for a correct identification. |

@benfolio: Not every police car has a spotlight, so it could be a former police car. The holes in the bumpers could be from a pushbar. But at least we absolutely know that this one is a 1998 Crown Vic. @Ford Guy: Take a look at the 5th picture, there is a bit of the speedometer visible. |

Too dingy to see if its got a "certified calibration" mark on it. It does seem to point that the lack of spotlight AND the dash trim (which also includes a clock) cancel out part of that possibility of it beginning its life as a police car. Yes, the bumpers may have come off of one, but then again many taxis have push bumpers added on their own. Seeing the VIN is the only way to know for sure, so we can only go on the clues given. |

I pretty much agree with benfolio. The dash trim is what's throwing me off a bit. Either way, I'm not sweating it too much. @ingo: I depend on the smaller details on a case-by-case basis. In this case, I'm not going to waste a while trying to figure out what the exact VIN might be. By all indications it's a 1998 model and I'm leaving it at that. |

Okay, you've won, I give it up - I have nothing more to offer. Leave it as it is. I think with these very different details it's very hard to tell if it's a police car or a taxi or something. |

What are you talking about? Can't you see that I agree with you? Everything you said was spot-on in your last post and we were all in agreement that it's a 1998 model. About the 5th thumbnail, you can't see the actual speedometer so that doesn't really help. |

Now I am very confused about this car. |

It's a former NYC Taxi. It's a 1998 P72. It has a rooflight switch of the left side of the steering wheel, you can see it on the first screenshot, also handles on rear doors panels and has a traces of a rubber bumper protectors on rear and front bumpers. Hole in the hood lid, left by a medallion. Holes in front and rear bumper is left by bumper guards, not by a pushbumper. Believe me. I collecting info, about a NYC Taxi, many years. -- Last edit: 2014-07-03 20:39:37 |
