Type 35. Can't see enough detail to see whether it is the supercharged Type 35B. |

Traced - 1936 Indy 500 entry for Luther Johnson which did not start - withdrawn after testing. An unsupercharged 1925 T35 (apparently chassis 4748) which was fitted with supercharger by US owner. Car survives - http://www.bugattibuilder.com/photo/thumbnails.php?album=1677 - but has been extensively rebuilt. Original engine transferred to another car (chassis BC31) - which has an interesting story (discovered in 1950 at an aerodrome in Nottinghamshire where it was being driven around for fun by the ground staff, with bodywork, original engine and gearbox removed and the chassis fitted with a Vauxhall engine. Restored and well-known UK historic racer in late 50s onwards, sold for £430,500 in 2011). http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/19286/lot/452/ and Link to "www.trackforum.com" . -- Last edit: 2012-05-08 16:53:52 |
