this is not MG Metro Turbo, this is a late a series Rver Metro GTA, they have the Turbo body kits and the wheels, but only has the MG Metro non turbo engine. |

It's a 5 door, which rules out any MG or (pre-Rover) Sport/GTA edition. Doesn't leave many choices apart from late GS or Vanden Plas for high spec version with washwipe, alloys, headrests, and body colour rear spoiler & bumpers. But can't trace details of black rear panel. The Rover GTA from May 90 did have a 5 door but bumpers and wide side trim both had red inserts and the rear spoiler was black. And from 1990 onwards top Metros started getting tints. So I think best bet is 1986-ish (pre-Rover) VDP, but better ideas welcome. -- Last edit: 2012-02-29 21:09:27 |

The number plate is the 1987-1990 style if that helps, but unfortunately is illegible (possibly 90?). It doesn't look like one of the Euro-flag fakes used elsewhere in the film so is probably legit. |

Black rear strip means the Metro is probably from 89 or 90, post de-Austinisation (when the car was sold without a marque). GTA would make sense. I think 4runnerv6 is thinking of the same thing as me, whereas dsl is thinking he means the R6 Rover Metro. -- Last edit: 2013-02-14 00:49:24 |

It seems to have a rear door handle BUT the side window of a ... 3dr... |

What looks like a door handle might be a fuel filler: Link to "i12.photobucket.com" I think fuel filler change was maybe 1990 not long before R6 came out. It only did take them nine years to move it to a more sensible place. The thing that irritates me is the colour, I've not seen a grey GTa, usually red or white. |
