Brand new facelifted version, so indeed a 1996.

Sorry, but i have to disagree. It's not the post '96 MY facelifted version. The easiest way to tell is the grille insert, the alloys and the cladding (post '96 MY got body coloured side clading, pre '96 still have the old contrasting coloured cladding). '91 at least by the clear front turning signal covers.

Check the air vents on the front fender as well, they give it away (pre '96 3 vents, post '96 2 vents)

How did the R129 receive clear lights in 1991? I can say the U.S. market, they received clear lights for the 1995 model year. This is a 1995 model year vehicle, so IDK what are you referring to on that front. Admins please change this to 1995, it's not a 1991 model.

This is ludicrous, as sensible research will prove this is a 1995 model. It has the U.S.-spec clear lights and isn't the facelifted 1996 model. The movie was shot from December 6, 1995 to February 24, 1996. In the U.S., the SL had specific changes for the following years. 1992 model brought a new steering wheel, OEM 8-spoke wheels. 1993 model brought 600SL. 1994 introduced revised nomenclature as SL###. 1995 model year introduced revised headlights. 1996 model year received a facelift. I have never heard of it receiving clear turn signals in 1991. That never happened.

I agree with you, but he's right that it isn't a 1996 model. He's very wrong on the idea it's at least 1991 model from the clear headlights. The first year to receive them was 1995 and this is definitely a 1995 model. It's likely leftover inventory during December 1995 (time of filming), after the '96 models were already released. It's a movie goof to feature 1995 models as brand new, in a movie released on October 25, 1996. By then 1997 model year SLs were being sold.
