Naah, it's not a DDR-car. Despite the fact, that until now no any Saab with pre-1990 DDR-registration is known, this car has a plate in Western size, and the scene was also filme in West-Berlin - these nails for marking parking-lots had been unknown there. And the street plster itself is pre-war, but in the DDR it would have been much more demolished. And the motorbike is a Western make, too. |

Mmhh, the movie is from 1990, when the crippled rests of the DDR still have existed and the cars still had the old plates. Otherwise: the DDR-Nomenklatura (the clientele, who drove black Volvos) was paralysed already in that times. |

I've just asked the specialist for Western cars in the DDR, and he told me, that until know not any Saab is known, which was running there before 1990. Except some cars of Western embassies or foreign journalists, for sure. But they doesn't really count. -- Last edit: 2011-12-30 19:38:45 |
