This same car is in a 1971 auction catalogue I bought on eBay, and here's what it says.

1920 PANHARD ET LEVASSOR "X 29" LIMOUSINE

Reg. No. SU 2824

Engine No. X29-52606, Chassis No. 52606, four cylinders, 27-3 h.p., sleeve valves, four forward and one reverse gears, two-wheel rod-operated brakes.

This car was unused by the original owner between 1932 and 1962 when the bodywork was removed and the chassis, with modified temporary bodywork (likely referring to the tourer body in this scene and in the background during the opening race scenes), appeared in the film "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".

The elegant coachwork, now refitted, has been re-painted maroon. The trim is the original. The spare wheel is carried on a side mount. This is how it looked when we see it parked in Mr. Coggins' garage. I guessed they filmed this scene sometimes later after the "Roses of Success" scene. I have a picture of it in the book, but I'm not able to add it.

We should move this page here because it's the same car, but rebodied. Though, I'm surprised it hasn't been changed to what the catalogue says it is.
