1957+ Phase 8A 'Gay Look'. Also 2 Hunters (or similar Aus versions), BMC 1800 Mk2 (again Aus made?), late Spridget, R16, Peugeot 404, racy Volvo 240 - all of which might be interesting if better views crop up in full film. |

Is the Volvo the same as /vehicle_448823-Volvo-240-245.html ? |

I think this one has extra stick-on side stripe and sporty headrests so was wondering GLT or similar. |

The Volvo has also the longer door of a 2-dr-version. But it isn't wickey's dream car, or? Didn't Bertone-brick always has a vinyl roof? -- Last edit: 2011-11-11 19:50:01 |

242 never sold in UK in any form - 142 stopped in Aug 69. |

This London chase scene was filmed on the rooftop of an old building in Flinders Street, Melbourne, Australia with my maroon Peugeot 404 in the foreground. The car was returned with a Luton registration sticker. |

Being a bit anal here, but the Minx should really be called a Mark VIIIA. Although these models are often called "Phase" it seems that Rootes (who built them) never called them that. All factory documentation (handbooks, workshop manuals) refer to them as "Mark". Also, production of the Mark VIIIA stopped in 1956 with the introduction of the new Audax Minx (Series 1) |

Sorry - my mistake on date. Re Mark/Phase argument, I think this is one of those 6-of-1-or-half-a-dozen-of-the-other choices - both options can be well argued. I don't have a strong push for either, so would not protest if these all switched. But it would be a fiddly task to untangle them all and the consequent need to push consistent approach into other 50s Rootes (Huskys, Commer etc) may make it too much of a pain for little real gain. |
