I'd swear this was a Vectra A. 1989-92 model.

"Wiki" wrote In New Zealand, the Vectra A was offered initially as an Opel, but it wore Holden badges from 1994. It was not sold in Australia, where Holden instead offered a rebadged Toyota Camry called Apollo until 1997.

Or is it a more likely VN Commodore?

Definitely an early Vectra. Sorry can't tell you whether it is an Opel or a Holden though.

If it got the Holden name in 1994 it's the Opel.

We only had this front end styling until 1992.

Since what year NZ was flooded with used imports from Japan? Maybe it's an Opel from there.

There is always the possibility that it came from Japan. We have had large numbers of imports from Japan since the late 1980s and some have been European in origin. I have a 1988 Japanese spec VW Golf at present which was imported from Japan in 1995. In this case I think it unlikely as most imports are over 5 years old.

very likely.
When I had been in NZ in 1998, I've seen some used Made for J Opel, freshly shipped to Auckland. But they were all Kadett GSi.
Maybe they took some Vectra's from J to NZ, because they were to incredible cheap
