Used by the villains in a chase. Four stars.

Did the regular Electras get those taillights with the amber turn signals? I thought only T-Types got them.

I think the turn signals would have to be converted to amber for use in Europe. (The movie was shot in Bulgaria, and I would hazard a guess that this Electra was imported to somewhere in Europe when new.)

This car is for sale in Sofia. It's in bad condition and the owner ask a crazy price. Most of the US cars found in Sofia are cars who belonged before to diplomats.

But what I don't understand is the second vieuw of this car. It's before a building with windows you never see in continental Europe and not at all in Sofia. (in french: les fenêtres "guillotine" sont typique du monde anglo-saxon).

Did they change the windows to look more "Chicago-style" houses!!

The window frames jut out in front of the walls, so I think you're right -- the crew put up fake sash windows in front of the real windows, to make the buildings look more American.

The IMDB goofs page says the Electra has two different grilles (and sometimes none) during the chase, so perhaps the film used several different cars. How did you find out the Electra was for sale?

A lot of American military personnel in Europe (UK, Germany, etc.) drive American cars, and some of those might end up in eastern European countries too.

Simply, the owner has several US-cars, all parked out-side near one of a very popular pizzeria in the neighbourghood of Simeonovo. I was thinking to buy that car as "second car" for driving in Bulgaria, but too expensif and in bad condition. Secondly, he spoke about a movie, but I didn't have any attention to it.

This car isn't an Electra T/Type, here in North America, only the T/Type model has the amber turn signal lights but this one has lights on it's B pillars instead of the T/Type emblems found on the Electra T/Type and the round Buick emblem found on the Electra Limited, Electra 380 and Electra 430 models.
It also has more chrome trim on it's lower body and it has wire wheelcovers instead of the standard aluminium rims of the T/Type so it's a 1985-86 Electra Park Avenue

Almost certainly the same car in Unstoppable, another Nu Image film shot in Bulgaria:

I thought they sold these in the EU. GM's divisions sold a pretty wide range of models in the European Union, and I think that these did get sold in the EU.

The whole US cars in Europe thing is very messy. Plenty were not officially imported but found their way here later or were brought over by US army personnel or diplomats. All of them would have been had aftermarket conversions to meet EU rules.

Also, Bulgaria was not in the European Union in 1985. :miam:

It could have been new to an American serviceman in Germany, sold on several times in Germany and then exported to Bulgaria.

It could have been sold in the EU and exported to Bulgaria for this movie.

It could have simply had the T-Type taillights to fit in for the European market

Unlikely. In the most EU-countries, Buick was never officially in the ranges of GM-dealers (so Opel an Vauxhall), especially not in the 80ies. You could order a new Buick at the big dealers (only those with the "GM"-logo on the roof, besides the Opel- or Vauxhall-sign), but only on special request.
