It’s a K-1500 four-wheel drive, half-ton class pickup from the 1981 or 1982 model years. For the 1981 Chevrolet K-10/GMC K-1500, you had a choice of: 4.1 liter 250 cubic-inch inline-six with staged 2-barrel carburetor -or- 5.0 liter 305 cubic-inch pushrod V-8 with electronic spark control and a staged 2 or 4-barrel carburetor -or- 5.0 liter 305 cubic-inch pushrod V-8 without electronic spark control and a staged 2 or 4-barrel carburetor The "big block" 7.4 liter 454 cubic-inch pushrod V-8 was not available in the half-ton class pickups. In order to get that engine, you had to get either a three quarter-ton class or one-ton class pickup. |

The 5.0 liter V-8s with electronic spark control (ESC) had a higher compression ratio and developed 30 more horsepower, but made 5 (five) lb-ft of torque less. Power specifications: - 5.0 liter 305 V-8 with ESC | 160 horsepower, 235 lb-ft of torque - 5.0 liter 305 V-8 without ESC | 130 horsepower, 240 lb-ft of torque |

Yes it more than likely had the V-8 also with electronic spark control. Its definitely four-wheel drive, as it has the front GM Corporate 10-bolt live hypoid drive axle with offset front differential. Four-wheel drive specifications: - shift-on-the-move four-wheel drive system - two-speed dual range New Process 208 transfer case - synchronized direct high range planetary gearing - unsynchronized reduction low range planetary gearing - locked 50:50 torque split in Four High and Four Low modes - four-corner Vari-Rate long-travel suspension system - automatic self-locking front wheel hubs - variable-ratio recirculating ball steering with hydraulic power assist - four-wheel hydraulic power assist brakes with self-adjusting capability - armored brake lines wrapped in steel Both the C-Series and K-Series pickups were offered with an Eaton Automatic Differential Lock (ADL) as an optional extra for the rear hypoid differential. It featured intelligent differential control via an internal governor, which monitored vehicle speed (both forward or reverse) and wheel slip to decide when to lock or unlock the rear differential. Also optional was underbody skid-plate amour. Steel plates were placed over vital components. -- Last edit: 2014-02-18 16:28:28 |

The wood chipper resembles an Asplundh Whisper Chipper. |
