This car appears to be from October 1984 onwards, because of 12 inch (not 10 inch) wheels and plastic wheel arch extensions. Authi ceased manufacture of BMC Minis from 1975. |

Slightly puzzled - has been entered as 93 Rover Mini Rio, but doesn't match what my Mini bible says about the Rio, which was a 93 edition but the first special released with 1275cc (for UK at least) in a batch of 750. There were versions for other countries with names like Tropic, Caribbean, Polynesian and Seaway. Some details match picture of the UK version (eg interior, black mirrors, wheel covers) but not this green (although it looks a special colour), there are no rio decals on rear wing, UK Rio did not have coachline, grille should be black and there should be a bonnet badge. It has 86+ side indicators and could well be a 93 car; it's not a Rio in UK-like form with the engine size being the biggest anomaly. But it is possible Spain got their own Rio with smaller engine and other differences. So where did the Rio ID come from? |

Still a bit confused. New plate info doesn't fit very well - it's not a Cooper so probably not 1300, and not a Fastback (!). But the late 91 date is useful. Previous plate info says it's 1000. 1991-92 After Eight edition (mainly for France, but some went to Spain, about 1500 made, nowhere else got them) looks a close match - colour, coachline, plastic wheel covers, black arches, grey seats with headrests. Slight niggles are my book pics show white wheel covers (not silver), black grille, and a script logo at rear end of gold coachline. But everything else fits, so maybe Spanish After Eights were slightly different from French ones. |
