Vauxhall Royale The first on the site? ![]() Made in Germany, made for UK. Model origin: UK or Germany? All Astras have UK as model origin... -- Last edit: 2011-01-17 00:25:12 |

Hm, strange. ![]() Do we have Vauxhalls Senator incorrect listed? Should that be Royale then? |

What's the difference between them? The car above has a different back (resp. plate holder) than the Opel Senator |

I think the Royale name lasted up until Opel withdrew the Senator in the UK after which the Vauxhall was badged Senator. I know for certain that the MK2 model was badged Senator and our only other MK1 is a later one with a plate linked to a Vauxhall Senator. |

I guess it was badged Senator from the 1983 facelift onwards? |

Most of Vauxhall/Opel, old EU Ford, and old Seat should be some day cleaned. For each model we have to decide what to use, not to rely on the make only. |

I don't see how we can in the case of Vauxhall/Opel. For instance, as Wikipedia says, 'A high proportion of Vauxhall-branded vehicles sold in the UK are produced at Opel factories in Germany, Spain and Poland, and roughly 80% of Vauxhall production is exported, most of which is sold under the Opel brand.' |

@chris40: an exact identifying of the country, where the Opel/Vauxhalls of the last 25 years were made, is only possible by checking the VIN-number. |

Exactly; that's what I meant. Not even IMCDb has found a way of doing that. |
