Much to Gomsel's chagrin and denial, US IVs were apparently built in Brazil: https://static-attic.s3.amazonaws.com/2018/06/19/46/a7099e7435ee3cca_c45d09427c26a1.jpg |

Not necessarily: Link to "www.autotrader.com" Seems that some were sourced from Germany in 1999-2000 at least. R32s were also Germany sourced. -- Last edit: 2018-06-27 21:31:53 |

I'd say VW sourced them in 2004-05 as Brasil was the only country still making them at the time. EDIT: the first half of '06 were also IVs! ![]() |

Every 2001 I've checked on Auto Trader has a BR VIN, one of the 2000s did as well, so it's not just the later years. Did a plate check on this one and it's made in BR too: /vehicle.php?id=953043 |

How did you get the VIN? |

Autocheck gives it when you search the plate:![]() |

Funny, when I search it doesn't state the VIN. |

Y=2000, W=Wolfsburg, US style VIN |

Keep in mind that the VIN Sandie linked is an example, and not the car in question. |

Looks like 1999 Golf production was in Mexico or Germany, later years in Brazil. Jettas sedans all have Mexico codes. Golf: Link to "www.easyexport.us" GTI, looks like Brazil then new gen in 2006 in Germany: Link to "www.easyexport.us" Jetta, sedans seems to all have Mexico code, Wagons have Germany: Link to "www.easyexport.us" Also looks like Gen 5 Rabbits were sourced from Germany: Link to "www.easyexport.us" -- Last edit: 2018-06-27 22:17:33 |
