The mechanic said that there was something wrong with it, that it needed a new radiator(?) hose or something, and that when/if the others get back, he wants to source parts from the Ford E-350 van.

Or, at least I think that’s what he said, I didn’t really hear all of what was discussed, I was munching on popcorn at the moment ... :D

We can identify the year of the Winnebago Chieftain from the AMC site as there is a video clip of Jeffrey DeMunn giving a tour of it as it relates to The Walking Dead. He identifies it as a 1977 model year.

I hope they use for a long time

Close but no cigar on the year: it's a 1973. I can tell by the side striping pattern, front bumper design, and flat dashboard combined with the two-spoke steering wheel (1973-on for Dodge chassis) The '74 and newer 'Bagos have a different dash design.

Beautifully preserved Chieftain.

If that is indeed a '77 Winnebago Chieftan, then the episode entitled "Better Angels" Episode 212 has a problem with it. In the episode, "Glenn" files down the points in the engine to get the engine to start, but according to "Winnebago Owners Relations", those RV's had electronic ignitions (no points) starting in '72-'73.

Eventual fate: It goes up in flames alongside the barn when the zombies invade the farm at the end of the second season. Sad to see it burn. :(

NOOOOO.... :( poor winnebago... but somehow after I watch again and again It's looks like they burn the older model. I was thinking is a 1970s Winnebago Brave.

Agreed. If you look at the picture on the Walking Dead wiki and compare it, the burning RV has a much shorter wheelbase.

Not much that I don't know about this rv. I just sold my 1973 brave. This one is a little older than mine. I will have to guess that it is a '71. It has 5 lug wheels. Mine had 6. It is running a 413 dodge motor carbureted and I think points. My '73 had electronic ignition and a 2 barrel. It has a dual passenger seat upfront that swivels to face aft. There is a pull down double bed over the helm station. There are drawers over the helm bed that go into the eye brows of the rv. You can see them extended from the front. The windshield would stay dry most of the time while still. It had a styrofoam packed ceiling sandwiched between 2 pieces of plywood.

I don't think it's 1971. 1971 has older front look.

I think this kind of design is available from 1972-76. But from the mid of 1976-78 has differents front look.

In the pics page on this site look up winnebago. There is a 71 brave like I had and the front end grill is different.
There is a 68 and a 75 and both of those have 6 or 8 lug wheels. Also, in the movie they were working with points which I didnt have in 73

Yep, starting to look like it's a '77 alright. They screwed up with saying there were points in this model. Also, you can't reach the distributor from the front like they were. That was a nice riding truck. I still have never seen one with 5 lug wheels???

I knew it the RV isn't destroy.

Anyway I found out that the buring RV it's a 1970-73 Winnebago Brave. Can we list that?

It can only be a 1973. This paint scheme was only available for a Chieftain in 1972 and 1973. However the steering wheel in the movie is black, we didn't see that in the Winnebagos until 1973. The rolled hood area is also that of a 1973, in 72 its more harsh. As for the 5 lugs wheels, this is consistent of the m375/m400 chassis. Shorter models on a m300 of this era would of had 8 lugs. As for points, I'm not sure 1973 had them or not. I do own a 1972 Brave that had them from the factory.

As for changing them from the grill, I'm not too sure its possible. The Chieftain would of had a big block, so the points would of been located in front of the engine unlike the Chrysler small blocks. However the radiators are simply too tall to reach over. I also have a 1970 Chieftain with a 413, there is no way I can reach the points from the outside.

I have one of these for sale in Oregon. I am more interested in selling it in a few years time but if someone makes me a good offer i will consider. It's a 1973 and i am currently having it fixed up for the end of the summer so that i can rent it out for a month or so.

Here is a shot of the front. The front and rear are in aluminium. Sorry the original paint job has been rolled over but it does give it a mean look.
