1956+ 190 [W121] with a nice optional open roof.

Could this possibly be a W128 instead of a W121? I was given these reasons why it might be:

1) The larger amount of chrome
2) The much more pronounced wheels/rims/hubcaps
3) The sunroof, which may have only be offered on the 6 cylinder models
4) The upholstery appears to be leather

Good question, as the car does appear quite up-market. But:
The location of the front indicators on the rear of the front fenders makes this a 4-cylinder version for sure. All 6-cylinder models had long, aerodynamic indicator lights on top of the front of the fenders. The 219 [W105] was the only 6-cylinder sedan with no quarterlights in the rear doors.
4-cylinder models were 180 [W120] and 190 [W121]. By the chrome side window trim and the chrome beltline just under the side windows and the C-pillar, this is a 190.
It is always possible to put some up-market/after-market hubcaps on.
The sunroof was a factory option on all Ponton models (though on the 180 it only became available in April 1958).
I cannot see or smell wether the upholstery is leather or not, and I do not know wether this was available as factory option or not; but many cars have been overrestored (especially in the 80s in USA). The same applies for the metallic paint.

Thank you DynaMike for your detailed response!

By the way, for anyone who may be interested, this topic was brought up here in the Magnum Mania forum thread for the episode Summer School.

The hubcaps aren't orignal for sure. They are the later ones, post 1968. So the wheels aren't original either. The 1968+ rims are smaller.
For the W113 and the W108 thje change of wheels and hubcaps was during the production (also 1968, I guess).
