I'm not sure about a 1200, the hood makes me think about a 1302. It seems bigger. |

And was the steel sunroof ('Stahlschiebedach') available as option on the 1200 ? |

1302. I think so too. I see 4J +41 wheel. 1971 model? |

The 02 series had a VW badge on the trunk hood, it doesn't look like this one has one, I say its a 1200 Mexico |

I agree with 1200. I just was a bit irritated with the hood. And all 1302 originally had hubcaps. These naked rims with this plastic-cap in the center was only at some basic 1200. @stu: not a Mexico-version, which came to Europa after 1977, as this car has the pre-1974 indicators on the fender. All 1975+ Typ 1 (except the 1303 Convertible for the USA and some South American made ones - as I've learned it at IMCDB) had the indicators in the bumper. ![]() Hrrrmmphh: but in the brochures all 1200 of all model-years have no chrome-trim in the frontscreen-rubber (otherwise the 1303 in the 8/73-brochure neither...) Oops, one correction: the 8/73+ 1200 "L" had chrome bumpers. I canot identify the colour, maybe "tropengrün". So after all it seems to be a 8/73-7/74 1200 L - with 1975+ plastic caps on the wheels. 1200 L or 1302 - if the front hood would be better visible, it would be much easier. But the 1971-73 1302 was never available in "tropengrün". -- Last edit: 2010-09-13 19:26:03 |

Yes Ingo, the "Mexico" Bug hat the indicators in bumper, I think the rims without the hubcaps are the irritation, but the 02 hat the badge on the hood, this one doesn't have one... |
