Pretty sure this is a Merc, like 99% sure. Can't rember the model though |

Hmmm, if a Mercedes, it's something based on the Spanish MB 100, resp.a facelift-version of it. Where it was filmed? AFAIK this facelifted MB100 (or such a derivate) wasn't sold in Middle Europe, but in South America. |

It's a SsangYong Istana or Mercedes-Benz MB100: /vehicle_270688-Ssangyong-Istana.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SsangYong_Istana This is an Australian film. |

SsyangYong for me. |

So orign Spain, built in Korea, made for AUS? |
Gomselmash11 ◊ 2010-09-05 22:19 |
Spain origin? |
◊ 2010-09-05 22:41 |
Yes, this model was created and built there, never in Germany, anciently based on an Auto Union-Van. |

I believe we only had the Mercedes variant... |

Indeed, only the Mercedes-Benz version got imported to Australia, not the SsangYong. So it's a Mercedes Benz MB 100 or a MB 140. |

"Orign Spain" is correct in every case, why it's listed now as "orign Korea" |

Was this version of the MB100 ever made in Spain or sold in the EU? Didn't we go directly from the original MB100 to the Vito? |
◊ 2010-09-09 14:41 |
I'm quite sure, that version was made in Spain - all MB 100 were coming from Spain and all had been developed there. Even if this specific version was built in Korea, it's origin Spain. As I wrote above: Orign Spain, built in Korea, made for AUS would be correct. A very unique constellation. |

It is not this car, there was never such MB in Europe, just similar name. |
◊ 2010-09-09 16:30 |
On what car is it based in origin? So do we have here two similar looking models with the same name, but finally based on complete different cars? Maybe to compare with the Ford Granada, which European and US model was something totally different? -- Last edit: 2010-09-09 16:30:30 |

My mistake, it is indeed based (somwhere) on MB100, but see how has been redesigned, all body panels are different. IMO can be Korean origin. -- Last edit: 2010-09-09 16:37:05 |

I'd also say arther Korean origin, since already so much was changed from the Spanish version. Otherwise we should give Germany as origin, since even the Spanish MB100 was based on a German design (by Auto-Union) |

I cannot find this model on the Spanish market: Link to "suchen.mobile.de" Interesting, that nearly all MB100 are in Germany, except two in Romania, two in Italy and one in Poland. None in Spain! |

Ah, thanks, so "orign Spain" should be correct! |
◊ 2010-09-16 21:32 |
But I think Wikipedia is wrong and Weasel1984 is right. |
◊ 2010-09-16 21:34 |
So back again to the question: If it's not based on the Spanish MB100 (though it has the same name), on which other car then? |
◊ 2010-09-16 21:38 |
As far as I can see, SsangYong designed the Istana based on the MB100, and then Mercedes rebadged the Istana as MB100 for some markets outside Europe. The Istana was introduced in 1995, while the Vito was introduced in 1996, replacing the original MB100 in Europe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_Vito |

Just asking, is that a MkIV Mondeo in the back there? |

Yes. |
