Is this made in Australia or made for Australia? |

Probably assembled in Australia from mostly imported parts. |

I think these were designed for use by the Australian Army. I think they used R-Series cab with flat sheetmetal front for easy repair in the field. |

Which model had this bull bar with the M in the middle? Or is it custom? -- Last edit: 2010-08-16 22:05:10 |

The steel fenders were also offered in North America but they weren't all that common, when they were ordered they were usually on dump truck chassis. I've heard Australian truck fans call these "Flintstone" Macks. The bull bar is custom. |

Today in my street I saw a Renault truck re-painted as a Mack. It's funny the fascination with American culture... Big letters saying MACK but also the difficult to ignore Renault logo. |

20 years ago in my neighborhood "lived" Skoda Favorit re-badged to... Ford Mustang. All logos were replaced - even convincing. ![]() This was not uncommon in those times. However the most strange modification of this sort, I saw back then, was very subtle - Renault 20 with Renault 18 badge (?!) Less is more... |

In my plate-collector-forum there is a pic of a Golf I GTI with a "Golf L"-badge. Due several details it's rather a real GTI. If somedays my dream-car would come true, I would think about to replace the badge "300 SEL" with a "200 D" and the "6.3" with "automatic". ![]() |

Automatic? Maybe better Taxi sign. For a while, I thought you will write about MB with badges of this VW, we all well know. ![]() |

MB? No, there are no relations. The badge of the car you are mentioning, would better fit on a Phaeton. In the strict historical view it's the first and only successor in the model-range. ![]() The Passat was the replacement of the Typ 3, so a class lower. |

I remember well the German tuner Carlsson proposed "200 D" cheating badge for (e.g.) W124 500E ![]() |

DM600 "Steel Hood" |
|
◊ 2011-02-25 20:57 |
Guys,I'm really not sure, that it is DM. 1) Cab ISN'T offset. 2) As truck is RHD, would be logical to have cab, moved to the right side, so cab side would be flush with fender edge. Which isn't. |

Mack RD600. No offset cab, steel front sheetmetal, RHD Australian specs. https://aitruckmodels.com/product/mack-rd-600-steel-hood/ |

Wasn't there other models with that steel hood (RD-700 or RD-800 are mentioned in US production)? |
