This might pre-date the Model T. |

It might, but the radiator seems to be modified from an early Model T and the front suspension looks Model T as well. I think this is a customiser's attempt to reference 1910+ American sports cars like Mercer Raceabouts and Stutz Bearcats. |

But the rims is later Model A or so, no? Or did Model T's have these too? |

Model T's had them for the last two model years AFAIK. I suppose this is an older model fitted with newer rims, because they are harder to find. |

Reference to my 1923 copy of Dyke's Automobile and Gasoline Engine Encyclopedia published in St Louis Missouri, suggests that the "T" did not have FWB. This must be a heavily modified car, not the least with a braked front axle probably from an "A". The general appearance of the front axle with the downswept ends matches the diagram of the Model A axle shown in "Modern Motor Cars" Volume 3 from about 1929. The size and appearance of the front of the chassis suggest that this car started life as a "T". The radiator is like that fitted to the Maiflower, a modified "T" built in Gloucester, but the rest of the car suggests homage to Stutz or Mercer as Chris has said. -- Last edit: 2010-04-30 19:40:56 |
