1997-1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Gen.1 (UN93) It’s equipped with 4-wheel-drive, using ControlTrac 4-mode part-time | full-time 4-wheel-drive with a BorgWarner 4406 TOD 2-speed electronic transfer gearbox. 2High, Auto, 4High and 4Low modes: 2High | Torque is routed to the rear wheels only. Auto | Software does all the work. Full-time 4-wheel-drive capability is provided by an electronically-controlled electromagnetic multi-plate clutch pack center differential. The front driveshaft and rear primary driveshaft are allowed slightly different rotational speeds by the software varying the clutch pack. Up to 50 percent of torque can be sent to the front axle if needed. 4High | The center differential is locked, providing a continuous 50/50 torque split to the front and rear axles. 4Low | The center differential is locked, providing a continuous 50/50 torque split to the front and rear axles. Low range gearing is engaged. The 4-CLL (4-corner load leveling) suspension system will rise to maximum height for improved ground clearance. Traction management: 4-wheel electronic traction control was not available yet. The only form of traction assist came as an optional limited-slip rear differential (LSD) with a choice of rear axle ratios. -- Last edit: 2010-04-01 01:57:21 |

That's quite a detailed list there. I think I better leave identifying the year range of Expeditions to Neptune for now on! |
