Was it sold officially in Europe? or it was only as police car? It wasn't available in Spain. I've seen a few of the previous generation in Ireland, but I think it was because they are LHD, and they have a few japanese extra cars. At wikipedia, at international market, they don't say nothing about Europena Market. |

The Camry was sold in Germany for several years, but always in tiny numbers. I've read an interview of a German motor journalist with the responsible manager of Toyota, why the Camry was so unpopular here, and if they are thinking to chance something to push up the selling. The Toyota-man has said "No, won't change anything on the Camry for the European market. The few hundreds of cars we sell in Germany aren't worth that work. We selling it in the USA in masses, this is the main thing. We don't care about the German taste for the Camry." @cibup: it wasn't an official German police car. Maybe there were some test-cars, but perhaps a "Cobra11-fake". The German police don't drive Toyota, except some Land Cruiser. I've seen a few of them, even some with full armoured equipment as escort-cars of politican-convoi's, prisoner-transports (sometime the differences aren't that big... ![]() |

It is shame Europeans do not see a good quality car when it is right under their noses. For some reason, they tend to go for the sardine-can motors. Camry is an immense seller in the Gulf, Dubai taxi use Toyota Camrys (now replacing with the current generation) and Nissan Altimas. Hoping to return to the land of the sun, after this short stint in miserable, tiny, wet and expensive Europe. |

No offense to Europeans but it seems like things that work for everybody else almost never works in the EU. Don't know why, though. |

I didn't even know that generation of the Camry was sold anywhere in Europe. I figured Toyota would have dropped it after the 4th gen XV20 due to unpopularity. |

Wasn’t sold in Italy too, we only got XV10 and XV20 (in the 1994-98 period) but they were extremely, extremely rare, I’ve never seen one in person. |
