I would say it is a 1953 Studebaker Commander Starliner like this - Link to "www.conceptcarz.com" -- Last edit: 2009-05-14 19:14:04 |

Studebaker Commander, ca. 1953/54? |

'Empty' grilles and very low overriders: 1953 only. I guess the two-tone paint makes it a Regal trim level. But no way to distinguish on this photo between the L6 Champion or the V8 Commander, nor between the pillared Starlight or the hardtop Starliner... |

Well, 1953 had only a small horizontal bar (not very well visible) in the grilles, whereas the 1954 had well visible egg-crate chrome grilles (plus higher overriders). |

I think sometimes, film crews will surround their "featured" car with their own, other cars in real traffic, as a form of traffic control, and this Studebaker may have been one of those cars. If that's the case, then this may be an alternate shot of the same car. Note that it has a sedan post: |

Nice, that makes it a Starlight. Still impossible to distinguish between Champion and Commander, though. |

Appears to have broad W/S trim = Regal. Agreed, too far away to see if it has Commander or Champion badges on the quarter panels. -- Last edit: 2011-10-12 03:02:06 |
