Hmm, I'm just thinking about if this car was named Santana and not Passat in China. I think so.

btw.: on our flight to China in 2001 I'd shown a photo of my '87 Passat Variant GT (so the absolute identical car like that above) to the guy on the seat besides me. He worked for Volkswagen of China - and ha hasen't recognized it. :/ Perhaps because in Chine they never had it for civil use. I was wondering a bit anyways... Sure, that he hasn't known the K 70, but the car, they have produced by theirselves??

This wagon appears on Shanghai-Volkswagen website on the Santana pages pictures but I couldn't find its exact name (but it is a Santana anyway I guess)

At least the only difference is the badge. The original, European 1985+ Santana was named Passat, too.

Very rare police car outfit! But I suggest that the time should be revised to 1995.
Because this was purchased by the Shanghai Police Department in 1995. At that time, it was the first batch of police patrol cars equipped with GPS/VAL satellite system in China. Later, after the Ministry of Public Security of China unified the national police vehicle outfit in 2004, these vehicles were basically decommissioned.
